**Le Fiamme di Milano Cortina 2026 si riaccendono per i Giochi Paralimpici Invernali**
Milan, 6 March 2026 – Tonight, during the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, the two Cauldrons located in Milano at the Arco della Pace and in Cortina d’Ampezzo in Piazza Dibona will be lit once again around 9:30 pm, inaugurating the Paralympic Winter Games.
For the first time in the history of the Paralympic Winter Games, the two Cauldrons will burn simultaneously in two different cities, symbolizing the spirit of a widespread edition of the Games that connects territories, communities and people across Italy.
Conceived by Milano Cortina 2026, designed by Marco Balich and created in partnership with Fincantieri, sponsor of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, the Cauldrons represent one of the most powerful and recognizable symbols of Milano Cortina 2026.
Their design pays tribute to the sun as a universal source of life, energy and renewal, while also recalling the geometric interlacing of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous Knots, celebrating the harmony between nature, creativity and human ingenuity.
The Cauldrons in Milano and Cortina will remain lit for the entire duration of the Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, before being extinguished on 15 March during the Closing Ceremony in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
The Milano Cortina 2026 Cauldron, historically one of the most iconic symbols of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, was produced in partnership with Fincantieri.
The objective of Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, in agreement with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP), Città di Milano and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Regione Veneto and Regione Lombardia, Province autonome di Trento and Bolzano, is to plan, organise, finance and implement the Milano Cortina Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2026.
Established on 9 December 2019, Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 is led by President Giovanni Malagò and CEO Andrea Varnier.
