**IL VILLAGGIO OLIMPICO DI CORTINA APRE LE PORTE, ACCOGLIENDO GLI ATLETI NEL CUORE DELLE DOLOMITI**
**Circondato dalle montagne, il Villaggio Olimpico di Cortina si apre come riflesso del suo territorio alpino ospitante**
Milan, 31 January 2026 – Nestled in the heart of the Dolomites, the Cortina Olympic Village officially opened its doors yesterday, welcoming the first delegations of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
Designed to reflect the identity of its host territory, the Cortina Olympic Village offers a setting deeply connected to the alpine landscape and local heritage. Its architecture, materials and integration with the surrounding environment create a calm, human-scale atmosphere, providing athletes with a peaceful space to settle in, recover and focus as they prepare for competition.
“The Cortina Olympic Village is deeply inspired by its alpine setting and the culture of the Dolomites,” said Flaminia Tamburi, Head of Villages. “From the moment athletes arrive, we want them to feel immersed in this unique environment, a place where sport, nature and local identity come together.”
The Village features 377 fully Made in Italy mobile homes, designed to accommodate over 1,400 athletes in a functional, accessible and well-being-oriented environment. The housing units are equipped with ergonomic furnishings, optimized spaces and home automation systems, in line with the standards required for a major international sporting event. Village operations are supported by 99 volunteers, and the arrival of international delegations has already begun, with several teams from different countries already in Cortina.
The arrival of the first delegations marked an emotional milestone for the teams involved in delivering the Village. Delegations including Germany, Switzerland and Austria, alongside teams from the United States, Canada and China, began settling into the Village from the early hours of the day. The focus on this Opening Day was on ensuring smooth arrivals, clear orientation and a warm welcome, allowing athletes and team officials to quickly feel at home after their journeys.
“The first days are always intense,” Flaminia Tamburi added. “There is a strong sense of anticipation, and our priority has been to make arrivals as seamless and welcoming as possible, so everyone can settle in comfortably and focus on what lies ahead.”
Early feedback from athletes and team officials has highlighted the welcoming atmosphere and the distinctive alpine character of the Village. “Athletes and officials have appreciated the tranquility of the Village and its setting, which is especially valuable as they begin their preparations for the Games,” Flaminia Tamburi said.
With the opening of the Cortina Olympic Village, all Olympic Villages for Milano Cortina 2026 are now operational. The Villages of Predazzo, Bormio, Anterselva and Livigno have also opened their doors and are welcoming delegations, marking a key moment just six days ahead of the Opening Ceremony.
