**IL VILLAGGIO OLIMPICO DI MILANO APRE LE PORTE AGLI ATLETI**

Milan, 30 January 2026 – The Milano Olympic Village officially opened today, welcoming athletes and team officials from across the world as the countdown to the Olympic Winter Games continues.
Several delegations are arriving today as the Village continues to welcome teams ahead of competition. Italy was among the first to settle in, joined by a large contingent from Germany and Czech Republic, as well as teams from Japan. Additional arrivals are scheduled late today, including delegations from the Netherlands and Australia, adding to the growing international atmosphere as preparations intensify.
With the Village fully operational, the Milano Cortina 2026 team is ready to provide athletes with the ideal environment to focus on their performance, while experiencing the unique atmosphere of an Olympic Winter Games. Designed as the central hub for athletes during the Games, the Village provides accommodation, dining, training and recovery facilities in a safe, accessible and welcoming environment.
“Above all, we want athletes to feel at home from the moment they arrive,” said Flaminia Tamburi, Head of Villages. “The Village should be a place where they can rest, focus and feel supported, but also where they can connect with others and enjoy the unique Olympic atmosphere. Our goal is to create an environment that allows them to perform at their best while feeling welcomed and cared for.”
The Village was fully operational from day one, with the main dining hall, opened 24/7 with several food stations plus a buffet serving balanced meals tailored to athletes’ needs. Fitness center, recovery and shared spaces were also open, allowing residents to familiarise themselves with the facilities ahead of competition.
Operations on opening day were supported by 180 volunteers and around 100 paid staff and contractors, working across services including arrivals, accommodation, catering and athlete support.
“The first feedback has been very positive,” Flaminia Tamburi added. “Athletes and team officials have highlighted the welcoming atmosphere of the Village, which is extremely rewarding for all the teams who have worked hard to make this moment possible.”
For the Village team, the opening represents both a milestone and the beginning of an intense operational period. “It’s a very emotional and proud moment,” Tamburi said. “The opening of the Village is the result of months of preparation and teamwork, and seeing it come to life is incredibly rewarding. At the same time, this is just the beginning, and our priority is to continue delivering the best possible experience for athletes and officials every day.”
With arrivals continuing over the coming days, the Milano Olympic Village is now fully ready to support athletes as they prepare to compete, connect and experience the unique spirit of the Olympic Winter Games.
