CAIRO, March 26. /TASS/. The Iraqi authorities have denied rumors regarding the alleged existence of special centers or training camps for supporters of the Yemeni rebel movement Ansar Allah (Houthis) within the country, a spokesman for the Iraqi armed forces’ Joint Operations Command said.
“We categorically reject reports about the presence of any Houthi training camps on Iraqi territory,” the spokesman said, as quoted by Al Arabiya TV. He described such speculations as unfounded, emphasizing that “there are no training camps on Iraqi soil where individuals from other countries may receive training.”
The spokesman also noted that “the number of illegal crossings or infiltrations across the Iraq-Syria border is currently zero.” He stated that Iraqi forces maintain full control of the border with Syria and that “there are no concerns regarding this issue.” He further mentioned that 1,900 Syrian troops, who had entered Iraq following the change of power in Damascus, have recently returned to Syrian territory.
